This month’s issue of Marie Claire Australia features so many great pieces, it was extremely difficult to narrow it down to select only a few of what I believed were the most interesting and enjoyable parts. So, here we go!
Keira Knightley looks stunning as the cover star of the August issue. With gently tousled hair and a smokey eye, this cover almost has a romantic feel to it.
Knightley chats with Karl Taro Greenfield about growing up on the big screen, know for her signature roles as playing the period heroine but is certainly anything but the damsel in distress in real life.
Bring Back Our Girls
Social media doesn’t always get a great wrap. There are a significant number of people out there who abuse the medium by spreading negativity and hate but recently, we have witnessed just how powerful social media can be – for the good.
In April this year, 270 school aged girls were kidnapped from their Nigerian boarding school with local authorities facing the struggle of having the girls returned safely and unharmed. Upon hearing about this situation, people from all over the world rallied together to show support to the families of those kidnapped and raise awareness of the current political issues in Nigeria.
#bringbackourgirls starting trending worldwidecelebrities, politicians and regular Mums and Dads joined the campaign. Marie Claire takes an in depth look at the timeline of events leading up to the disappearance of the girls.
It can be considered one of the most iconic pieces in the industry. Celebrating 40 years since its inception, the wrap dress by legendary designer Diane von Furstenberg is as popular today as it was when it first revolutionised womenswear.
Inspired by the traditional wrap top worn by ballerinas, the original design was meant to be a top only, until Furstenberg moved to New York in the early 70’s and the wrap top became a wrap dress. The rest they say, is history!
Take yourself on a little trip to the French Riviera for a moment when browsing through the fashion highlights from the Cannes Film Festival.
Marie Claire have curated the best in gowns and beauty worn by the stars as well as a look at what films to watch out for.
I also just have to say one more time, Blake Lively – wow. She hit it out of the park not once, not twice but three times with her red carpet looks. Hands down best dressed!
